Sip and Sketch in the garden

with artist Rebecca Gilbert

Thursday, September 12
5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

This event is rain or shine!

Capture the natural world on paper with artist Rebecca Gilbert this Thursday at the Wagner. Rebecca is a visual artist and printmaker whose work is a representation of the act of searching for, and of our ability to recognize when one has found, something of “value.” She interprets these ideas in woodcut, wood engraving, and etching using natural imagery and pattern. Rebecca earned an MFA in Printmaking + Book Arts from The University of the Arts and teaches at The University of the Arts, Maryland Institute College of Art, and Fleisher Art Memorial.

Using historical selections from the Wagner's archives, Rebecca will share the history and techniques of botanical illustration, then help guide your hand as you draw in our garden. To fuel your creativity, this event includes special cocktail made with Liberty Gin, refreshments, and basic drawing materials.

If weather permits, the workshop will take place among pollinator plants, trees, our historic building exterior, and all the smaller flora and fauna of our garden. In case of rain, the event will move to our collection's many natural inspirations.

Tickets are $25, or $15 for members. Purchase tickets on the event website below or call 215-763-6529 x24.
