Beauty and Joy of Computing
Save the Date! ● July 23-27, 2018 ● Kean University, 1000 Morris Ave, Union, NJ
The Beauty and Joy of Computing is a College Board endorsed curriculum and professional development for the AP Computer Science Principles course. BJC professional development workshops are coordinated by Dr. Tiffany Barnes at North Carolina State University with generous funding from the National Science Foundation (grants 1542922 & 1346922).
Attending our PD is equivalent to attending an AP Institute. Teachers will also earn CEUs (Continuing Education Units) for attending and completing the PD work. In addition to learning about the AP CSP exam, our participants learn about the BJC curriculum (http://bjc.edc.org/), our programming environment Snap!, and our BJC community of practice. (Note: teachers attending our BJC PD are not required to teach an AP version of BJC).
We will be offering BJC professional development near you (see date/location above). The cost of the workshop is $75 and includes all materials, and ongoing support by our BJC team.
Teachers who complete the requirements will be eligible for a stipend of up to $500 plus travel and lodging expenses. While there is not an official DonorsChoose campaign for teacher professional development, we encourage you to use DonorsChoose to request funding if you need to receive an additional stipend while attending. Learn more about the BJC curriculum at http://bjc.edc.org. Apply for this BJC PD opportunity at http://bjc.link/BJCApp2018.
