The Academy at Palumbo is looking for a Physics teacher for the 2017-2018 school year.  Palumbo is a public magnet high school in the Philadelphia School District.  The position is full time and requires someone to can teach four sections of general physics (primarily conceptual – there is curricular freedom and we have Holt textbooks that primarily sit unused) and one section of AP Physics 1 (we have Giancoli textbooks, but an order was placed for a class set of Knight at the end of last year) to high school juniors.  Ideally, we’d also like someone who can take over some coaching duties for our First FTC team and wants to help run a MakerSpace we’ve assembled, but those are not requirements. Penn Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter (the LRSM at UPenn).  With support from the National Science Foundation, this program seeks up to five high school science teachers from the Philadelphia area (we’re not limited to a certain area exactly, but teachers need to be within a commutable distance). The teachers will undertake a summer research program for six weeks from June 19 through July 28, 2017 and each will be assigned to a senior investigator associated with the LRSM. Haverford Township Recreation Department has nature-based camps designed to introduce children to the wonders of the outdoors and to help them make connections with nature and with new friends. Campers will explore many aspects of the Haverford Reserve, a 120-acre passive recreational space including two first-order streams, a bird blind, a storm water basin, native meadow, and so much more. Staff will help youth develop life skills such as conflict resolution, decision making, and confidence. Staff will lead campers on a new adventure every day as they explore the stream, roam in the meadow, hike in the woods, find frogs, turtles and aquatic bugs, and play outdoors. Older campers will be challenged with outdoor adventures and field trips.  Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for planning and leading activities and games for children ages 3 – 5, 6 – 8, 9 – 11, and 12 – 13 Dates/Times:  We are looking for staff the week of June 19th, June 26th, July 10th, July 31st, and August 7th. The Tower Hill School is seeking a physics teacher to teach two sections of physics from 4/3/17-6/2/17. One section is called physics (18 students), and it is taught from Cutnell and Johnson. The other section is called accelerated physics II (10 students), and it is taught from Knight/Jones/Field. The second course is very similar to AP physics II; they will all be taking the AP Physics II exam on May 3rd.  The Tower Hill School is a college preparatory school located in Wilmington DE. These classes meet back-to-back in the A and B blocks of a rotating six-day schedule. The classes meet five out of six days with one 80-minute period and four 50-minute periods.
