Cultural apropriation could be a issue, but people often speak about it the wrong way. For example, if a brand new culture adopts say a hairstyle and it becomes a popular fad, but the civilization that Animal Crossing Items invented it’s seen as backwards for using it, that’s problematic cultural apropriation.
I always wanted the Brandy doll as a child, and my favorite Barbie was the dark skinned one with all the purple and white princess gown since she was pretty. When I would play Barbie computer games, Teresa was my favourite character.
I’m white and if I was small I wanted a Black Barbie more than anything. This is the 80s in Canada. My mom went to a lot of distinct stores trying to locate a single and eventually had to special order it. The reason for for my want? My very best friend was Black and it made no sense to me that if the folks around me were not all white that all my dolls should be white. I also remember thinking how lovely the Dark Barbie was.
YES I had been obsessed with scary spice as a little child but everyone got me like ginger and sporty spice shit. And my parents bought me american woman books about samantha even though I liked Josefina the very best?! Not gonna repeat the same mistakes:’)
It lacks a dislike button. The amount of people who would probably dislike this to oblivion probably outnumbers the number of individuals who like it.If I can customise my personality in a game I play as a very big guy, frequently not white. I am a white woman, I just enjoy playing as somebody who seems different to me. I don’t attempt to recreate myself, who doesn’t interest me.
There is likely some comment someone made in this thread encouraging this behavior and obtained downvoted to shreds. Maybe.Yeah I am like this. I can not wear makeup because I’d need to pre-blend a cover up every moment. I move from”mostly white with dark hair” into”that girl appears mixed” through the year.
Hell, I only play with a female character in matches if I can. I’m a dude every single day of my life and sometimes I want a little variety, perhaps I wanna see a badass, take no shit girl in my games instead of a fundamental ass dude yet again. Seriously cannot understand why folks wish to gatekeep how a person enjoys their movie games/ttrpgs/whatever when its a form of escapism from real life, I want to do my thing and have fun!
Who says you’ve got to vainly make your villager look like you?? Perhaps this woman has a tan?? Perhaps this woman INSTEAD designed her villager to become self invented or perhaps a comic?Lmao, are there people that think playing a shameful character is blackface? Better eliminate diversity from Animal Crossing Bells For Sale games afterward
